Columbus Literacy Council

The Columbus Literacy Council is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to increasing the level of functional literacy of adults reading below an 8th grade level through teaching the English language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The Council was founded by Church Women United in 1970 and formally established as a non-profit educational corporation in 1975. They have since expanded to serve about 3,000 students annually, making them the largest private provider of adult literacy services in Central Ohio.
